A CD of original music composed and performed by Kevin J. Traynor Simplicity: The first of three pieces inspired by my Auntie Annie, who always made me feel welcome at her house. She died some years ago. I miss her. Beauty: The second “Auntie Annie” piece. She had a beautiful smile. Dance : The third piece for Auntie Annie. I wish she could have heard this music. Hope in Winter: A quiet song for a long slow season as we keep warm and wait for spring. Bird Over Water: Close your eyes and imagine the water, a lake, perhaps, represented by the electric piano; then imagine the bird, represented by the flute, as it flutters, soars, and dives. Do they not seem to be talking to each other? Shelter of the Heart: Sometimes do we not look for a quiet place inside ourselves where we can take shelter from the storms outside? Leaving the Shore: I envision a tall ship under sail, pulling away from the shore in the morning. The musical feeling is one of hope and enthusiasm. Ocean Deep: We have left the shore far behind now; a small ship on a vast ocean, the bird singing overhead (the flute), and later a great wind arising (the trumpet), carrying the ship towards the other shore. Waves on the Shore: The atmosphere of this movement is one of rest and peace. The new shore is embraced without fear.
